Watch one million bats fly out of their roost, over your head and into the nighttime sky at the only public viewing of Mexican free-tailed bats in Oklahoma. This experience was ranked in the top 10, must-see "jaw dropping spectacles" by Birder's World Magazine, Aug 2003 issue and this is the 11th year hosted by The OK Department of Wildlife. The evening's activities include a short walk into the prairie and educational presentations about the bats and their habitat. Registration required for this limited seating event. Kid's Bat Watch times are Thursday from 7:15pm - 9:45pm and are recommended for ages 3 to 7 years old. After the bat watch, attend the Star Party at the Selman Living Laboratory.
There are 12 nights in the summer for public viewings and limited to 75 people per night. Sign-up begins June 2 and lasts for two weeks or until spots are filled.
