SWING! Brings Rhythm & Soul to Lyric's Season
Civic Center Music Hall
July 8th - 12th, 2008
(rated G)
Oklahoma City, OK - Lyric Theatre, Oklahoma's premiere professional theatre company, continues the 2008 summer season of musicals on Tuesday, July 8th with SWING!, a Lyric premiere that answers the hit television show "Dancing With The Stars" with a spectacle even fancier, flashier, and more breathtaking. This all-dancing, all-singing production celebrates that uniquely American music and dance style that's sure to put audiences "in the mood." SWING! plays from July 8th through 12th.
Requiring only joyful enthusiasm and a ready partner, swing dancing exploded out of pre-World War II Harlem's hotbed of youth culture, swept the world, and continues to enjoy a global resurgence that began more than a decade ago. Swing music shattered ethnic and cultural barriers, generated dance styles like the traditional Lindy Hop, and spawned specialty styles such as Jive, Latin Swing, Hip-Hop Swing, West Coast Swing which nods to disco, and Rock-n-Roll Swing which utilizes acrobatics. A unique collaboration of singers, dancers, and musicians, SWING! harnesses the abundant spirit and joy of dance into an electrifying live Broadway musical.
SWING! will run from July 8th through 12th, at the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown Oklahoma City. Tickets for SWING! are priced from $27 to $52.
Senior discounts (ages 65+), Student discounts (ages 18 and under), and Group discounts (20+) are also available. Show times are Tuesday - Saturday at 8:00pm, Saturday matinee at 2:00pm.
