Truly an icon of the American West, the 101 Ranch grew to prominence through ranching and farming opportunities, as well as its famous wild west show, the “Miller Brother’s Real Wild West.” The show starred the likes of Tom Mix, Bill Pickett, Hoot Gibson and Yakima Cannutt, and later included Ruth Roach, Lucy Mulhall – known as “America’s First Cowgirl” – and even Buffalo Bill.
Over 3,000 objects – ranging from rare photographs and posters to costumes and firearms – comprise the collection that was purchased from Ruth and Jerry Murphey, 101 Ranch and memorabilia experts. It was purchased with help from Randi and Fred Wightman, the Thomas Gilcrease Museum Association Endowment Trust and the City of Tulsa.
