3-logy Triennial 2008: "Imaginative Qualities of Actual Things"
Event Name
3-logy Triennial 2008: "Imaginative Qualities of Actual Things"
Event Description
The triennial exhibition series, 3-logy, will showcase contemporary works of art, architecture, and design produced or manufactured during the three-year period preceding the exhibition's opening. Formulated to encompass the three concentrations of Price Tower Arts Center's collections, and with a not to the triangularity of Frank Lloyd Wright's design, 3-logy will feature up-and-coming and established artists, architects, and designers whose work is emblematic of the central theme of each triennial exhibition. 2008's theme, "Imaginative Qualities of Actual Things" includes works that explore or manipulate common objects to create secondary functions or new products and works of art. Through their reconsideration of everyday things - such as bamboo skewers, punched paper, shopping bags, and even skyscrapers - the featured artists and designers are able to convey new ideas and fresh perspectives into issues of production, display, decoration, and use.
August 22, 2008 - January 4, 2009
