Since 1988, the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) has been working to support visual artists living and working in Oklahoma and to promote public interest in the arts. In an upcoming exhibition, OVAC will celebrate its history with a showing of event posters and images that reflect the excitement of the organization’s first twenty years. To be held at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, OVAC: 20 Years of Support for Oklahoma Artists will be on display February 28 – March 30, 2008.
“We are proud of OVAC’s history of supporting artists all over the state,” says OVAC Executive Director Julia Kirt. “This exhibition encapsulates some of the important programs that help artists. Looking at the past promotional posters, I am reminded of the amazing artwork that has been exhibited, sold and viewed through the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition’s programs.”
According to OVAC’s Board President Pam Hodges, Ph.D., the Anniversary Exhibit is “not only an excellent example of good graphic design, but also a reminder of the excellent opportunities that OVAC has provided for Oklahomans to participate in the visual arts during the past 20 years.”
The many programs of the organizations are designed to support visual artists living in Oklahoma. This includes grants, professional support, exhibitions, publications and more. For more information about the organization, please visit www.ovac-ok.org or call 405-232-6991.
